We'll start with the most exciting news first:
As many of you know, we are having a baby in June. And as many of you THOUGHT (just as we did) it was going to be a baby boy. HOWEVER, it is actually a girl! See for yourself (her little hiney is on the right side):
Absolutely nothing in between her little leggies! Below are a few other shots we liked:
Top: We saw a lot of open hand "hi mom!" "hi dad!" action.
Bottom left: Further "It's a girl!" proof
Bottom right: All curled up!
Mario hasn't said it, but I'd imagine he's a little disappointed that a mini-Mario isn't on the way. (Even though, to be fair, Dulce was/is very much a mini-Mario if we're completely honest.)
And I was secretly happy that it was a girl because 1) I don't have to worry about my baby having a little fire hose spraying everywhere while I change a diaper and 2) I can use all the girl stuff we already have because of Dulce! Not great reasons, but true reasons.
In other news, I got my Young Women's Medallion presented to me yesterday in sacrament meeting!
I received it once as a youth, and now, 10 years later, am receiving it as a YW leader. I don't even know what happened to my first medallion (oops!) but I love my new one. Two of my laurels recently got theirs and wear it all the time. I am glad they are proud of it! There are a number of requirements to receive a medallion, but for Personal Progress goals, you have to do 6 tiny goals and one 10-hour goal for each of the eight values (faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, integrity, and virtue.) As a leader, you only have to do three of the 10-hour goals. After receiving the medallion, the next step is getting the "Honor Bee." For this, you have to read the entire Book of Mormon and perform 40 hours of service. Any ideas?
There's no other real news.. Dulce is as cute as ever. She talks a TON more now (over the last month or two it's really picked up). She speaks mostly Spanish but a few words in English as well. She is very spunky and opinionated. She enjoys watching Curious George and Dora, jumping, doing ANYTHING with Papi, and playing with her best friends (probably Emi and Chema and her cousin Niko). She was a little confused before about how I had "baby Mario" in my tummy and now it's just "baby niña," but in general I'd say she's excited for "bebe hermanino." She likes going to Costco and painting her own (or anybody elses') nails. She's into planes.
